Spirit of Giving

lsm0112-450hSince 1954, Lutheran Sunset Ministries has been fulfilling its mission as a not-for-profit entity—providing person-centered services while maintaining accountability to society, our community, our stakeholders, and each other. Charitable proceeds are continually invested back into the Sunset community, creating added value and services for our residents.

Following are ways that Lutheran Sunset Ministries uses your generous gifts to enrich lives.

President’s Club: This flexible giving fund has six gift categories and is used primarily for operations with a few exceptions. Gifts over $10,000 are reserved and used as directed by the LSM Board of Directors. The six categories are:

  • Platinum – $20,000 and above
  • Gold – $10,000 to $19,999
  • Silver – $2,500 to $9,999
  • Bronze – $1,000 to $2,499
  • Patron – $500 to $999
  • Pacesetter – $250 to $499

Luckenbach Endowment: Revenue from this endowment is used toward funding the important position of the Campus Pastor, a crucial role in helping us fulfill our core values as “a ministry that reflects God’s grace and love.”

McDowell Endowment: Educational stipends and scholarships are provided from the interest generated from this endowment, helping us live up to our legacy as a promoter of lifelong learning and as a leading resource for senior healthcare education throughout the broader community.

Memorials: These essential funds are used in operations unless otherwise designated by the donor. As the funds grow, so does our ability to fulfill our mission and to improve the lives of residents.

Sunset Legacy for Tomorrow: Established in 2000, Sunset Legacy recognizes persons who have thoughtfully included Lutheran Sunset Ministries in their estate planning or their will.

The Spirit of Sunset

Hear from residents why they love living in a community of culture, faith and natural beauty.

“It’s given me a contentment I haven’t had in many years. It’s taken a lot of the pressure that is perhaps just a part of living in a multi-million population. It’s brought back things that you remember from childhood, the way things were as far as nice slow pace, people caring for other people, people mingling easily. You pass somebody on the street, and they speak. It’s just brought me a contentment I haven’t had in a very long time.”
