Employment Opportunities

Universal Worker (Assisted Living) Primary care and personal services provider for residents in Heckmann Assisted Living residence. This position provides basic daily living care services, such as meal service, medication disbursement, housekeeping, sanitation, and resident activities. Full time, 12-hour shifts.

Charge Nurse (LVN or RN) Full-time position available in the Sunset Home. Current Texas LVN or RN license required.

Nurse Aide (CNA) Certified Nurse Aide.  Full-time positions available on a variety of shifts. A $1.75/hour shift differential is paid for work scheduled and performed between 2:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Housekeeping Aide Full-time position maintaining the floors and sanitation of the Sunset Home or in Heckmann Assisted Living. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work in all aspects of housekeeping services: floor maintenance, building and resident room sanitation, and laundry service.

Home Care Provider Part-time position available. Provides basic daily living care services to clients in their homes.  Assists clients with personal health and hygiene needs, transportation and mobility, may assist with meals, visits to physicians, shopping, medication disbursement reminders and life enriching activities.

Windmill Cafe Job Openings

Windmill Café Cook

Windmill Café – a program of Lutheran Sunset Ministries

This position will report to the Dining Experience Manager

Hours: Monday – Friday, 10am to 7pm, Full-time position

The Windmill Café Cook is responsible for the overall operations of the back of house and kitchen area of Windmill Café. They will work beside the Dining Experience Manager, and sometimes alone, to prepare lunch and early dinner for customers, five days a week. The Cook makes sure the kitchen is properly cleaned on a regular schedule, food is disposed of properly and the kitchen meets all sanitary standards. In addition, the Cook ensures the ministry’s standards are upheld: the food looks good and is cooked properly, the proportions are correct, and it is cooked and served quickly. The Cook must be trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • If the Cook hasn’t already obtained a food handlers license, they must obtain one by their starting date.
  • A minimum of two years experience in kitchen management is preferred.
  • Customer-Service: The Cookmay have to interact with customers. Being friendly and courteous will help keep customers coming back.
  • Attention to Detail: The Cook has to keep their eyes on a lot of elements: food standards, costs, safety, etc.
  • Leadership: The Cookmust be the leader in the back of house, rallying their team during heavy shifts, resolving conflicts and getting the job done correctly.
  • Organizational Skills: Keeping work schedules, shipments, cleaning schedules and more organized is crucial to the job.
  • Speaking Skills: The Cookneeds to accurately and easily communicate standards and cooking methods to staff, give orders and speak with customers clearly if needed.

Cashier/Front of the House

Shifts Available: Monday – Friday, 10:30am to 2:30pm & 3:30pm to 7:30pm; Part-time position

This position will report to the Dining Experience Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cashiering
  • Have full knowledge of menu items
  • Busing tables
  • Delivering orders to the table
  • Maintaining a clean front of the house
  • Expediting orders when needed
  • Dish washing/kitchen cleaning

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • If the cashier/front of the house hasn’t already obtained a food handlers license, they must obtain one as soon as possible.
  • Customer-Service: The cashier/front of the house will have to interact with customers. Being friendly and courteous will help keep customers coming back.
  • Attention to Detail: This position will need to correctly input the orders and communicate with the other staff.
  • Speaking Skills: This position needs to accurately and easily communicate with staff and speak with customers clearly.
  • Taking Direction: This position must be willing to take direction from the Dining Experience Manager and the Dining Experience Assistant to assist them in any way necessary to make the café run smoothly.

What is The Windmill Café?

Windmill Café is an extension of Lutheran Sunset Ministries. Our mission is to provide older adults in Clifton and surrounding communities with a gathering place to experience social, physical, intellectual and even spiritual opportunities. We currently serve lunch, but will be transitioning to offer lunch and an early dinner. Our programming targets those who are 55 or better with opportunities for growth, socialization and connecting them with various resources in our community.
